Hawzah News Agency- Organized by the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, the event aimed to elucidate the message of peace, security, coexistence, and Islamic unity through the teachings of the Ashura uprising, while also addressing the pressing challenges currently facing the Muslim world.
In their remarks, speakers highlighted the various dimensions of the Ashura uprising, describing the sacrifice and devotion of Imam Hussein (PBUH) as an eternal model for preserving human dignity, reviving divine values, and safeguarding the religion of Islam. They stressed that the tragedy of Karbala is not merely a historical event, but a great school for teaching freedom, the pursuit of justice, and standing against oppression in all eras.
Participants further noted that Karbala represents the true symbol of justice-based peace, where Imam Hussein, through the sacrifice of his life and those of his companions, taught the world that lasting peace can only be realized in the shadow of righteousness, justice, and steadfastness against tyrants.
Speaking at the conference, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, head of the Imam Khomeini Foundation in Pakistan, elaborated on the philosophy behind Imam Hussein’s uprising and martyrdom.
“The martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs is not merely a historical incident; it marks the beginning of the timeless battle between truth and falsehood throughout history – a battle that teaches mankind never to surrender to oppression and to spare no sacrifice in defense of the truth,” Naqvi stated.
He added that under the most difficult circumstances, Imam Hussein endured thirst and the excruciating suffering of the Karbala desert to preserve the religion of his revered grandfather, the Holy Prophet. Yet, he never bowed down before the rule of oppression and falsehood. By choosing martyrdom, Naqvi said, the Imam etched this truth into history forever: that the survival of Islam lies not in compromise with falsehood, but in steadfastness upon the truth and readiness to sacrifice one’s life in the path of divine values.
In another part of his address, the head of the Imam Khomeini Foundation expressed appreciation for the presence of the scholars and attendees, while emphasizing the necessity of strengthening unity and solidarity among Muslims.
“Today, the Islamic world needs unity and distance from sectarian and denominational divisions more than ever before,” Naqvi said. “The enemies of Islam are seeking to exploit internal rifts among Muslims to advance their own agendas. Therefore, it is the duty of all Muslims to stand against divisive conspiracies by preserving unity and vigilance.”
The conference was held in an atmosphere filled with mutual empathy and an emphasis on shared Islamic values, with participants underscoring the need to promote the culture of peace, justice, unity, and resistance against oppression based on the teachings of the Ashura uprising.
